ASHRAE is a global professional organization made up of 54,000 volunteer members from HVAC&R and other building related industries. It works closely with affiliate organizations to promote best practices in building design, construction, and operation, with a focus on energy efficiency and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
It’s important to join not only ASHRAE society, but also your local chapter. ASHRAE is a grassroots organization, there are only 100 full time staff that handle the day-to-day business. There are 54,000 volunteer members who work hard and learn together to advance our industry. This all starts at the chapter level; it’s important that you become a chapter member and attend the local meetings to network and learn more about the big picture that is ASHRAE.
